A Year of Being Wild & on Purpose
Turning 34 & Celebrating Season 1 of the Wild on Purpose Podcast
👋 Seasons Greetings from Boulder, Wild Ones ~
The awakening of spring has been incredible to witness in the foothills of the Rockies. Warm days have beckoned me out of hibernation and onto muddy trails, granite crags, and vibrant green hillsides. I’ve just returned from a wildlife tour of Rocky Mountain National Park with my in-laws, where we were greeted by over 62 different species, including moose, a bald eagle, and countless birds 🦅
Lola is 6 months old and turning out to be the greatest adventure buddy — she reminds me that we must embrace the muddiness of life with uninhibited stoke and enthusiasm.
Tomorrow is also my 34th birthday, which I welcome with open arms 🥳
This past year has been unfathomably full — from moving internationally, helping my father die, getting married, and stepping up in the creative realm — I feel intimately familiar with endings, beginnings, and the liminal space in between.
In a recent Ayahuasca ceremony, I was shown that the purpose of (my) life is simply “this.” All of this.
Everything I’ve experienced in my life thus far has been my purpose, and that a sense of purpose is no further away than the next inhale or blink. This revelation was a relief. I felt myself put down the weight of needing absolute clarity on life direction and certainty that I’m doing the right things.
There’s no way to get any of this wrong.
"The point of life is not to get anywhere—it is to notice that you are, and have always been, already there." ~ Alan Watts
For me, this next year is not about making any changes in search of purpose. It is about noticing what is already here and welcoming it fully.
With this attitude, I sense I’ll be joining Lola in the mud puddles (and hopefully writing to you) more often during my next solar rotation.
Stay wild out there ~
Kelly 🐾
PS ~ If you’d like to partake in the birthday festivities, feel free to hit reply (or comment publically) to share one way my digital work (or existence) has positively impacted your life ❤️
🎉 Celebrating Season 1 of Wild on Purpose
This podcast represents something major for me: I brought an idea to life.
For over a decade, I've aspired to 'create something meaningful.'’ However, I first had to navigate years of self-doubt, creative dysregulation, and unconscious fear before I could realize this dream.
As I've discovered, this is the essence of the creative journey. It seems there's no creative soul who has journeyed through life without confronting their inner shadows.
“Creativity - like human life itself - begins in darkness." ~ Julia Cameron
True to the impulse behind Wild on Purpose, the adventure of creating this show was rich with growth, insights, stumbling blocks, and moments of wonder.
I encountered my reluctance to put in the hard work, heard the whispering voices of perfectionism saying, "It's not good enough," and lingered in the existential questioning of whether any of it even mattered. I grappled with resentment towards its demands on me (particularly social media promotion) and the ever-present gap between my current and ideal performance (similar to self-discrepancy theory).
At the same time, I had 9 of the most enriching conversations of my life, experienced the thrill of creative life-force energy moving through my body, and felt the catharsis of sharing more of my story with the world. I learned a tremendous amount from each guest across a range of topics that I’m fascinated by and gathered many new skills from the production side of things. I reclaimed more of myself, my voice, my truth, and my sense of creative agency.
All in all, this was the exact experience I wanted and needed.
(And clearly, I’m doing something right with over 1,700 downloads and many more listens across 37 countries…whatttt?! 🙌)
Thank you to the folks who walked this path with me, especially my husband and fellow podcaster, Jonny Miller of
(ep 01), my podcast mentor, Ian Mackenzie of (ep 04), my post-production audio editor, Jabriel AlSuhaimi, every guest who said ‘yes’ to speaking with me, and the wondrous array of humans within the Podcast Accelerator and Podcast Mastermind programs. As well as all the many people who have listened from around the world 🙏You all rock!
As I prepare for season 2, I’d love to know the following:
Which episode(s) resonated with you the most and why?
Are there specific topics or guests you would like to see featured?
What general feedback would you like to share? (either positive or constructive)
If you’ve been listening and want to help shape the future direction of this podcast, just ‘hit reply’ and let me know your thoughts.
