Introducing: The Monday Muse ✌️
A weekly round-up of quotes, content, practices & more that inspire me.
Hey there! I’m starting a new thing within the Wild on Purpose ecosystem. It’s called The Monday Muse, a weekly round-up of things that have inspired me lately that I think you’ll enjoy too. I’ll share books, podcasts, quotes, images, practices, and modalities from around the interwebs that are good for the soul, inspire the muse, and lovingly tend to the body, heart, and mind.
Think of it like self-care for your creative essence. Anytime you need a refresh on your creative well-being, come to these threads to explore what resonates ✨
Since I’m really into things like spiritual growth, self-inquiry, personal development, well-being, and creative action, I’ll typically share within these realms. But tangential weird things might make their way in as well. Since this is a new experiment, I’ll let time and practice reveal what this space really wants to be.
Before we dive into the first Monday Muse, I have some fun things to share:
📖 I’m hosting a 30-day book publishing challenge in July. Go from idea to self-published with a group of other creatives. Pre-register your interest here. Official details will be announced in the next few weeks.
🫶 I’ve started offering 45-minute Creative Curiosity Chats over Zoom on Thursdays. These are free calls to co-explore what’s most alive for us in our creative worlds. Book a call, and let’s meet.

I devoured the book Journey of Souls within one week and am on to Destiny of Souls next by Michael Newton. Learning what the “life between lives” is like through hundreds of hypno-regression sessions gave me a profound sense of acceptance, peace, and excitement for the human adventure.
🎧 Audio & Podcasts
I enjoyed Hugh Howey, a prolific self-published author, on The Tim Ferriss Show. They chatted about retaining creative rights to your work, the pros/cons of self-publishing over traditional publishing, and why AI will not ruin writers. Something I appreciate about Hugh is that he committed to writing two books a year for ten years (20 books total) before he’d decide if he was a good writer or not. Talk about humility and commitment 🤯 #onebookdown
My favorite music genre right now is conscious hip-hop, and I’m enjoying the uplifting, somewhat quirky beats of Able Heart
🎥 Film & Video
I’ve decided to stop judging myself for watching shows at night. Since I grew up watching FRIENDS with my mom every night at 7 pm and spent far too much of my childhood in front of Disney, I’ve heavily judged the Netflix life of modern times. That said, I’m ultimately a big fan of well-done fantasy and magical productions, so I’m coming out of the TV closet. I’ll admit that today’s film & TV provide great inspiration for my creative cup (within moderate doses).
Jonny and I breezed through Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix within two weeks. I never watched the animation, so I can’t compare it. But I fell in love with the endearing Avatar character and how they depicted the four elemental powers. I also appreciated how they explicitly explored reincarnation, which is rarely depicted in TV & film. (I know I’d be an airbender…which would you be?)
I’ll echo what the entire internet is saying ~ Dune: Part Two is phenomenal. Something I noticed and appreciated about the film is the distinct ‘color palette’ of the cinematography. If you watched Dune, you may enjoy this deep dive into the intentional color palette and cinematography choices.
I was recently interviewed on the Break Up With Your Bullsh*t Podcast by Michelle Akin, who was the Twitter stranger that helped me design my book cover. This super casual and friendly chat weaves across Creative Dysregulation, being a multi-modality creative, the early days of Marie Forleo, personal development on roller coasters and my awkward attempt to answer the question, “so what’s your deal?” ~ there’s a part where video is better, so linking to the YouTube video.
🧘🏻♀️ Modalities & Practices
This Nervous System Quotient Self-Assessment will show you where your nervous system is holding you back. Despite being married to the creator of this, I ranked in the yellow for Emotional Mastery, Self-Regulation and Interoceptive Sensitivity (but slayed the Environment Design because #formersleepcoach). After you get your score, you’ll receive a few days of super helpful emails.
Last week, I received a hypno-regression session from a gentleman trained by the Michael Newton Institute. I met my spirit guides and my “spiritual cohort,” experienced a deep inner child healing around conditional love, and felt completely on track with my soul’s path. If Journey of Souls resonates with you, you can find a facilitator of the work here.
I’m three weeks into using Luvly, a Face Yoga app that I’m totally obsessed with. I feel 10x more calm, relaxed, and rejuvenated after a daily 15-minute practice. Touted as an anti-aging app for wrinkle relief, the practice goes so much further than that, stretching and resetting the many (overused) muscles in the face, neck, and scalp while directly resetting the vagus nerve and the nervous system. It’s my new favorite form of self-care.
💭 Wise Words
“The great masters, including contemporary ones, all manage to retain the craftsman spirit. What motivates them is not money, fame, or a high position, but making the perfect work of art, designing the best building, discovering some new scientific law, mastering their craft. This helps them to not get too caught up in the ups and downs of their career. It is the work that matters.” ~ Robert Greene, Five Key Elements for a New Model of Apprenticeship
